Marakkavillai — மறக்கவில்லை "I haven't forgotten".
Most of us have something we kept. A performance we never gave. A form of expression we were told wasn't serious, wasn't skilled enough, wasn't the right kind. We put it away. But we didn't forget it.
Marakkavillai is an open stage evening hosted by House of Hibiscus as part of the lead-up to Adaiyalam 2.0 — Chennai's Mental Health Fest. The stage is open to singing, dance, spoken word, poetry, storytelling, movement, and anything else you've been holding.
There is no audition. There is no theme to stick to. There is no right way to do this. Alongside the stage, there will be colouring, collaborative art-making, and space to simply be in a room full of people expressing themselves.
Marakkavillai is for the parts of you that were always too much for the wrong rooms.
