Family & Intergenerational Counselling

A warm space for a family to feel understood, across generations.

Families hold deep love and, at times, real distance in the same breath. Roles shift, generations see the world differently, and the old ways of relating stop quite fitting. Family counselling offers a calm, neutral space where each person can speak and be heard, so the closeness that is already there can be felt again.

Much of what strains a family is a thinning of understanding rather than a loss of care. Naming that gently, together, tends to soften a great deal.

Who we sit with

Parents and their grown children, newly married couples settling into joint-family life, and families navigating change across generations. In a collectivistic culture, so much of what we carry is bound up with the people we live among, this is a space to work with that reality rather than around it.

What it's like

A guided conversation where everyone gets to speak and to listen freshly. We help the exchange stay warm and useful, so people can say what they have been holding and hear one another anew. Feeling genuinely heard is often what allows a family to soften toward each other again.

What we help with

Parents and grown children longing to feel understood, renegotiating relationships as children become adults, settling into joint-family life, expectations around roles and decisions, and reconnecting after a season of distance.

Begin whenever you feel ready

We meet by appointment at our home-based practice in Adyar, Chennai, a private, comfortable setting most families find easy to settle into. If a parent and grown child, or a whole household, long to feel close and understood again, that longing is worth honouring. You can book a session whenever you feel ready.
