When words aren’t enough, the body often speaks. Sometimes our stress, fears, and unspoken emotions show up as tension in the shoulders, a tight chest, or restlessness we can’t shake. Dance and Movement Therapy (DMT) creates space to explore and release these emotions—not through talking, but through movement.

At Hibiscus Counselling, we’re excited to offer Dance and Movement Therapy both online and offline (Chennai – multiple locations). These sessions, guided by our trained facilitator Heena Jain, use movement, expression, and creative exploration to help you reconnect with yourself in a safe, supportive environment.
What is Dance and Movement Therapy?
Dance and Movement Therapy is a psychotherapeutic use of movement that supports emotional, cognitive, physical, and social integration. It’s not about performance or learning choreography. Instead, it’s about moving in ways that feel natural to you.
Through movement, breath, and guided exercises, DMT helps you:
Reduce stress and anxiety
Build confidence and body awareness
Explore emotions that may be hard to put into words
Improve relationships and communication
Feel more grounded and present
Who Can Benefit from DMT?
DMT is for anyone—whether you consider yourself a “dancer” or not. Our clients have found DMT especially useful when dealing with:
Anxiety, stress, or burnout
Relationship or identity concerns
Grief, loss, or major life changes
Low self-esteem or confidence issues
Emotional blocks that feel “stuck” in the body
